Hi Everyone! My name is Dana Durkin and I have been a physical therapist for 10 years. I graduated from University of the Sciences in 2009 and have been working for Joint and Spine since that time. My final clinical rotation with school was with Marty in 2008 and I knew this was a team I wanted to be a part of.
I first became interested in physical therapy when I was 16 years old. I was drawn to the profession at that time because I had torn my ACL while playing basketball in high school and was in therapy for months rehabbing to return to both running and playing basketball for my senior year. I immediately fell in love with everything about physical therapy, from the exercises, to the patient/therapist relationships, and the entire healing process of helping people achieve their goals, and knew I wanted this to be my career. Physical therapy got me back on my feet and allowed me to run cross country at the University of the Sciences.
I currently live in West Chester with my husband, Mike, and our two children, Maeve and Gavin and our dog, Lenny. I still enjoy running races from time to time and spending time with my family and friends. We love going to the beach and my whole family are sports fanatics, so we are always rooting for our favorite Philadelphia teams. My career has been everything I have dreamed it would be and more. I have learned so much while being a therapist at Joint and Spine. I work 3 days each week now and am fortunate to be home with my children the other days of the week. I love this job because I have helped people achieve goals they thought were impossible and have developed great relationships with patients along their journeys.
